History
Construction of Cania Dam was completed in 1982 providing additional storage capacity for the scheme. Current land use includes dairy, piggeries, winter and summer cereals and lucerne.
Uses of Water
Irrigation
Water is supplied from groundwater reserves in the scheme to irrigated agriculture including dairy, piggeries, winter and summer cereal cropping and lucerne.
Urban Water Supplies
Water from the scheme is drawn by North Burnett Regional Shire Council to supply the rural townships of Monto and Mulgildie.
Major Storage
Cania Dam
Cania Dam is an earth and rockfill dam. Releases are made from Cania Dam to recharge groundwater reserves, which supply the majority of customers in the scheme.
